*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, sits along the middle stretch of the River Clyde, where the water transitions from its upland origins toward the wider tidal estuary. The Clyde in this region reflects the cool maritime climate typical of western Scotland. In winter, the river’s temperature generally stays between 4 and 6°C (39–43°F), remaining cold and fast-moving. During spring, it slowly rises to around 8–10°C (46–50°F), and in midsummer—usually July and August—it reaches about 14–16°C (57–61°F) in calmer sections. By early autumn, the water cools again to roughly 10–12°C (50–54°F), keeping a refreshing but chilly quality year-round. Even at its warmest, the Clyde in Glasgow rarely feels mild due to the constant flow and cooler regional climate.
Swimming in the River Clyde within Glasgow is not advised because of strong currents, boat traffic, and fluctuating water quality. The urban riverfront is designed more for walking, cycling, and sightseeing than for open-water swimming. However, wild swimmers sometimes venture into the upper Clyde Valley or nearby lochs during the summer months. Along the city’s riverside, visitors can enjoy cultural and architectural landmarks such as the Glasgow Science Centre, the Riverside Museum, and the Clyde Arc Bridge, all set against the backdrop of Scotland’s most dynamic urban landscape.
