*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The city of Kiliya is situated on the Kiliya branch of the Danube River, which is one of the largest distributaries of the river delta and serves as a natural border. Due to its location in the lower reaches of the river and the influence of the warm Odesa region climate, the water in the Danube near Kiliya warms up sufficiently for swimming during the summer months. At the height of the season, from July to August, the water temperature can reach a comfortable +23 to +26∘C and even higher in shallow backwaters, making it quite suitable for water recreation.
Swimming opportunities within the city of Kiliya itself may be limited due to the natural characteristics of a large river, such as strong currents, fluctuating water levels, and the presence of silt and sediment. Swimming in unofficial spots can be dangerous. However, recreational areas for water recreation and fishing exist both on the Kiliya branch and on the adjacent lakes and canals of the Danube Biosphere Reserve. Some recreation bases in the vicinity, particularly in neighboring Vylkove, utilize this territory for tourism and leisure.
Overall, the Danube in the Kiliya area primarily offers recreational opportunities related to the Delta's nature, fishing, and boat trips, rather than the classic beach recreation typical of the seacoast. Although the water is warm enough for swimming in the summer, visitors should choose swimming spots with caution, considering the constant and powerful river flow characteristic of this section of the Danube.
