Bačka Palanka, located on the western bank of the Danube River in northern Serbia, experiences a moderate continental climate that strongly influences the river’s water temperature. During winter, the Danube near Bačka Palanka is cold, often ranging from 1–4 °C (34–39 °F), with occasional surface ice in particularly cold periods. In spring, as temperatures rise, the water gradually warms to around 10–15 °C (50–59 °F). By June, it typically reaches 20–22 °C (68–72 °F), and in July and August, the warmest months, the river temperature averages 23–26 °C (73–79 °F), making it comfortable for swimming and other recreational activities. By October, the water cools below 15 °C (59 °F) again.
Swimming in the Danube at Bačka Palanka is allowed and widely enjoyed during summer.
