*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Trakai (in Lithuanian - Trakai) sits among a chain of lakes with Lake Galvė the most prominent near the castle and town. Surface water temperatures change markedly through the year: in summer (June–August) lake waters typically warm to about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), occasionally reaching 25–26 °C (77–79 °F) during heat waves. Spring (April–May) temperatures usually rise from roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as the ice melts and the sun strengthens, while autumn (September–October) sees a decline from about 15 °C down to 8 °C (59–46 °F). In winter (November–March) the lake is often at or near freezing, around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), and frequently ice-covered.
Swimming in Trakai is permitted and popular in the warmer months because there are designated beaches and monitored swimming areas on Lake Galvė and nearby lakes. Local authorities test water quality during the bathing season and some beaches are equipped for safe public use; lifeguard presence varies by site. Outside the official bathing season swimming is generally discouraged for safety and health reasons: cooler temperatures increase hypothermia risk and ice cover creates obvious hazards, although organized winter swimmers sometimes practice in controlled conditions. Visitors should use marked beaches and heed any local advisories.
