** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ogre (Latvian: Ogre) sits on the banks of the Ogre River and near several small lakes that reflect the temperate continental climate of central Latvia. Seasonal water temperatures in these lakes vary widely: during spring (April–May) surface temperatures commonly range from about 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) as ice melts and the water gradually warms. In summer (June–August) typical daytime temperatures reach roughly 16–24 °C (61–75 °F), with shallower bays occasionally warming to the mid-20s °C (mid-70s °F) in heat waves. Autumn cooling brings lake water down to roughly 4–15 °C (39–59 °F) in September–October, and in winter lakes are generally at or just above freezing at the surface under ice cover, effectively 0 °C (32 °F).
Swimming in Ogre’s lakes is generally permitted during the warmer months where designated bathing areas exist and water quality is acceptable. Local authorities or municipalities often monitor bacterial levels and post advisories; swimming is discouraged when cyanobacterial blooms, high bacterial counts, strong currents, or ice cover are present. Lifeguards may be present at popular beaches in peak season, and residents commonly swim for recreation in summer when temperatures are comfortable. As always, swimmers should follow local signage and public-health guidance to ensure safety.
