Bolderāja, located on the western edge of Riga, lies near the mouth of the Daugava River, where it flows into the Gulf of Riga. This area combines river and coastal influences, which affect the water temperature throughout the year. In winter, the Daugava’s water near Bolderāja is cold, usually between 0 and 2°C, and parts of the river may freeze during long cold periods. In spring, as the ice melts, the temperature rises to around 6–10°C, while in summer it can reach 18–22°C, sometimes up to 24°C in shallow or wind-sheltered areas. In autumn, the water cools again to 10–15°C.
