Location & Local Information
Sanski Most, located in the northwest of Bosnia and Herzegovina, lies on the banks of the Sana River, one of the country’s cleanest and most beautiful waterways. The Sana has its source in the nearby mountains, which gives it clear and cool water throughout the year. In winter, its temperature usually ranges between 2 and 5°C, while in spring it rises to around 10–14°C. During the summer, particularly in July and August, the water reaches 20–24°C, creating ideal conditions for swimming. In autumn, the temperature gradually drops again to about 10–15°C.
Swimming in the Sana River at Sanski Most is both possible and very popular. The water is clean, transparent, and rich in oxygen, offering a refreshing experience even on the hottest days. There are several natural swimming spots and beaches, especially around the city and downstream areas. The gentle flow in certain sections makes it safe for swimming, while other parts are better suited for rafting and kayaking.
