Shijak (Shijaku) is a small town in Durrës County, Albania, located inland from the Adriatic coast near the Erzen river basin. The local lake and associated ponds are relatively shallow and exposed to the same Mediterranean-influenced climate as the coastal plain, so surface water temperatures fluctuate with the seasons. Typical seasonal surface temperatures might be around 6–10 °C (43–50 °F) in winter, 11–18 °C (52–64 °F) in spring, 24–28 °C (75–82 °F) in summer, and 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) in autumn.
