*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Someșul Mic, a river in north‑west Romania that flows through Cluj and surrounding counties, shows marked seasonal variation in water temperature. In winter the river typically cools to near freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while spring temperatures rise as snowmelt and runoff push values into the 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) range. Summer is when the warmest conditions occur, with surface temperatures commonly between 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) and occasional warm spells pushing local pockets toward 25 °C (77 °F). In autumn temperatures fall again to around 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) as air temperatures drop and flow increases. Local conditions vary with weather, depth, shading, and flow speed, so measurements can differ between urban and rural reaches.
Swimming in the Someșul Mic is not widely promoted as an official recreational activity; there are few formal, supervised bathing areas on the river. Water quality can be variable—urban stretches may be affected by runoff or treated effluent—and currents, submerged debris and changing depths present safety risks. For these reasons local authorities generally advise caution and recommend using designated pools or verified natural bathing sites where water quality and lifesaving services are monitored. In isolated rural parts where water appears clean and flow is gentle, informal swimming occurs, but swimmers should assess temperature, cleanliness and hazards before entering.
