** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Râul Bistrița in north‑west Romania is a predominantly mountain‑fed river whose water temperatures reflect altitude, season and local flow characteristics. In spring (March–May) surface temperatures typically range from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as snowmelt and rain feed colder upstream reaches. In summer (June–August), when low flows and shallow, sun‑exposed pools warm up, temperatures commonly rise to roughly 12–22 °C (54–72 °F), though most deeper or faster sections remain nearer the lower end. Autumn (September–November) brings cooling to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F), and winter values often fall to around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice or near‑freezing conditions in sheltered or slow stretches.
Swimming is possible in many calmer, shallow stretches of the Bistrița during the warmest weeks of summer, and local residents sometimes bathe in popular spots. However, it is generally unsupervised and subject to safety and water‑quality considerations: cold temperatures even in summer can cause thermal shock, currents and sudden depth changes create hazards, and swimming is unsafe near dams, intakes or after heavy rain when flows rise. Water quality tends to be better in upper mountainous reaches and can degrade downstream, so checking local conditions and observing posted warnings is advisable before entering the river.
