** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Someș, running through north‑western Romania, exhibits marked seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In winter the river commonly cools to around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and can freeze in sheltered sections during prolonged cold spells. Spring brings a steady rise, with typical temperatures of roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F) as snowmelt and rain increase flow. Summer surface temperatures in slower, shallower stretches often reach 18–25 °C (64–77 °F), and during hot spells may climb toward 26–28 °C (79–82 °F), while deeper or faster channels remain cooler. Autumn sees a gradual decline to roughly 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) before the onset of winter chills. These figures are approximate and vary with location, depth, shading, and annual weather.
Swimming on the Someș is possible in some local, calm spots but is not universally permitted or advisable. Municipal regulations, designated bathing areas and posted warnings determine where swimming is allowed; in many urban or industrial stretches water quality can be variable due to runoff and occasional contamination, and strong currents, submerged obstacles and sudden depth changes present safety hazards. For safe recreation it is best to use supervised or clearly signposted bathing areas where water quality is monitored, heed local rules and warnings, and avoid swimming alone or in fast-flowing sections.
