** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Râul Siret, a major river in south‑east Romania, shows clear seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In winter the river typically cools to around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), often near freezing in cold spells. Spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 5–14 °C (41–57 °F) as snowmelt and rainfall increase flow. Summer is when the Siret is warmest, with surface temperatures commonly between 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) in calmer sections, though shaded or faster stretches stay cooler. In autumn the water drops again, usually sitting in the 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) range as air temperatures fall and discharge patterns change.
Swimming in the Siret is not universally prohibited, but it is conditional and requires caution. Many stretches are used for recreation in summer where currents are moderate and access is safe, yet there are no widespread lifeguarded beaches and water quality can vary with agricultural runoff, urban discharge and episodic pollution. Fast flows after heavy rain or during spring thaw make swimming dangerous due to strong currents and colder temperatures. Local authorities or signage may restrict access in specific places, so swimmers should choose known safe spots, check recent water quality and flow conditions, and avoid swimming alone or where hazards are present.
