It is recommended to limit the time spent in the water to avoid hypothermia. For those not accustomed to cold water, it is better to refrain from swimming. However, if you decide to enter the water, it is advisable to wear a warm wetsuit for protection against the cold. ** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Sarca is an alpine river draining the Adamello-Brenta area and emptying into northern Lake Garda; its temperature reflects that mountain source and the river’s changing character as it descends. In the high, fast-flowing reaches water is very cold for most of the year: winter temperatures often hover around 0–5 °C (32–41 °F). During spring and the snowmelt period the river warms to roughly 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) but can remain chilly because of runoff. In lower, slower sections nearer Lake Garda and in sheltered pools, summer temperatures can reach about 12–22 °C (54–72 °F), with occasional spots a bit warmer on hot, stagnant days; autumn typically brings cooling back to roughly 6–15 °C (43–59 °F). These are approximate ranges and local depth, shade and flow strongly influence actual values.
Swimming in the Sarca is possible in many places, especially in warmer lowland stretches and near the lake, but it is subject to local rules and safety considerations. Strong currents, cold water even in summer, submerged obstacles and variable flow from dam releases or snowmelt make some reaches hazardous. Where designated bathing areas or calmer pools exist, swimming is commonly practiced; in mountain gorges and rapid sections it is not advisable because of hypothermia and current risks. Always check signage and local guidance before entering the water.
