*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The River Welland flows through the East Midlands, winding from the uplands of Leicestershire through Market Harborough, Stamford, and Spalding before reaching the Wash. Its temperature reflects the gentle lowland climate of eastern England, where seasonal changes are moderate. In winter, the Welland typically stays between 4 and 6°C (39–43°F), remaining cold and slow-moving. By spring, it gradually warms to around 8–11°C (46–52°F). During midsummer—especially in July and August—the water can reach 16–19°C (61–66°F) in calm, sunlit sections, making it one of the more comfortable rivers in the region for outdoor recreation. As autumn approaches, it cools again to about 10–12°C (50–54°F), maintaining a mild and steady character through much of the year.
Swimming in the River Welland is possible, particularly in its cleaner rural stretches, though care should be taken due to slow currents and muddy banks. The water quality is generally good, and local wild swimmers often enjoy shallow areas near Stamford and upstream villages during warm summer days. The flat countryside makes access easy, and the river is also popular for kayaking and riverside walks. The Welland Valley offers peaceful scenery, with nearby attractions such as Burghley House, Rutland Water, and the historic towns of Stamford and Spalding adding to its quiet charm.
