*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The River Avon, one of England’s most picturesque waterways, flows through the heart of the West Country, passing towns such as Bath, Bristol, and Stratford-upon-Avon. Its water temperature reflects the temperate southern English climate, remaining relatively mild compared with upland rivers. During winter, the Avon typically measures around 4–6°C (39–43°F), staying cool and steady. By spring, it begins to warm to about 9–12°C (48–54°F), and during midsummer—especially in July and August—the temperature often reaches 17–20°C (63–68°F). In early autumn, the water gradually cools again to around 12–14°C (54–57°F), keeping a comfortable freshness that attracts swimmers and boaters throughout the warmer months.
Swimming in the River Avon is permitted in many stretches and has become increasingly popular where the flow is gentle and the water quality is good. Calm sections near Bath and Stratford offer ideal conditions for wild swimming, although care should be taken to avoid weirs, boats, and deeper channels. The Avon’s broad and scenic banks also make it a favorite for paddleboarding and riverside walks. Beyond the water, visitors can explore the cultural and historic sites that line its course, from Shakespeare’s birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon to the Georgian architecture and natural hot springs of Bath.
