** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Osam River (Bulgarian: Осъм) flows from the Balkan Mountains to the Danubian plain, and its water temperature varies strongly with season and altitude. In winter the river is cold, typically around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while spring brings gradual warming to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F). Summer temperatures differ between mountain and lowland reaches: upper, shaded sections often stay around 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), whereas slower lowland stretches can warm to about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) on hot days. In autumn water cools again, commonly falling into the 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) range before winter sets in. Local weather, depth, flow rate and shade all influence these ranges from year to year.
Swimming in the Osam is possible in many places, particularly in summer when lowland reaches reach comfortable temperatures, but it is not uniformly regulated or supervised. Because the river is public water, bathing is generally allowed, yet safety and water-quality considerations often determine whether a given spot is suitable: fast currents, submerged hazards, cold mountain water, and occasional pollution near urban areas can make swimming unsafe or inadvisable. There are few lifeguarded areas, so local signage, water clarity, and recent conditions should be checked and caution exercised when entering the river.
