The Neajlov, a lowland river in South-Muntenia, Romania, shows marked seasonal variation in water temperature driven by air temperature, flow and local shading. In winter the river commonly registers around 0–6 °C (32–43 °F), often close to freezing in cold spells. Spring warming typically brings temperatures into the 6–16 °C (43–61 °F) range as snowmelt and rains increase flow. In summer, shallow, slow stretches of the Neajlov can warm to roughly 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), and in particularly hot, low-flow years surface readings may climb slightly higher.
