** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Argeș River (Romanian: Argeș) runs from the Făgăraș Mountains through South‑Muntenia toward the Danube, and its water temperature varies substantially by season and by reach. In winter the river can be very cold, often around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) in open stretches and slightly warmer in lowland reaches; spring sees a rise to roughly 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) as snowmelt and rain increase flow. Summer temperatures are highest in slow, lowland sections and shallow bays, commonly between 18–25 °C (64–77 °F), while mountainous or dam‑fed parts such as reservoir outflows remain cooler, often 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). In autumn the water generally cools to about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as air temperatures fall and flows stabilize.
Swimming is possible in many parts of the Argeș, especially in calmer lowland stretches and at designated bathing spots on lakes or riverbanks, but it is not universally permitted or safe. Local rules, water quality tests, currents, boat traffic, and hazards around reservoirs and dam release zones can make certain areas unsuitable or officially prohibited for bathing. Visitors should follow posted signage and local guidance, because even where allowed, sudden changes in flow or poor water quality can present health or safety risks.
