** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Dâmbovița River (Râul Dâmbovița) in South-Muntenia shows pronounced seasonal variation in water temperature because of its modest depth and relatively fast response to air temperature. In winter the river commonly cools to near freezing, roughly 0–5 °C (32–41 °F). In spring temperatures typically rise to about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as snowmelt and rainfall increase flows. Summer temperatures in calmer, shallower stretches can reach roughly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), sometimes a few degrees higher in isolated pools on hot days. In autumn the water usually cools back to about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). Local conditions — recent rain, shading, depth and flow speed — produce substantial short-term fluctuations.
Swimming opportunities depend strongly on location. In many urban sections, particularly through Bucharest and other built-up areas, swimming is often discouraged or formally restricted because of water quality concerns, infrastructure hazards, variable currents and lack of lifeguards. Upstream and in more rural reaches where the river is cleaner and access is safe, informal bathing may be possible during warm months when temperatures are in the summer range, but it is wise to check local advisories and water-quality information first. Safety considerations and municipal rules determine whether swimming is appropriate in any given spot.
