The Euphrates (Fırat) as it passes near Gaziantep shows marked seasonal variation in surface temperature, with conditions shaped by climate, river depth, and dam releases upstream. Typical surface temperatures can range roughly from about 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in winter, warming to 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) in spring. Swimming in the Fırat around Gaziantep is not universally encouraged and is often restricted in specific locations.
