** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Keban Dam reservoir (Keban Barajı) in Elazığ is a large hydroelectric lake whose surface water temperature changes with the seasons and depth. In summer the surface typically warms to roughly 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), with sheltered bays sometimes reaching the upper end of that range. Spring and autumn bring moderate temperatures around 8–18 °C (46–64 °F) as the lake mixes and warms or cools, while winter surface temperatures commonly fall to about 0–8 °C (32–46 °F), and portions of the lake can be markedly colder at depth. Thermal stratification in warm months means deeper water remains much cooler than the surface, and temperature can change rapidly near inflows or outlets.
Swimming does occur in parts of Keban reservoir, especially in calm coves and recreational spots when surface temperatures are comfortable, but there are important restrictions and safety reasons to observe. Areas close to the dam, intake structures and spillways are generally off-limits because of strong currents, sudden water-level changes from turbine operation, submerged hazards and poor escape routes. Local authorities and signage determine permitted swimming locations, and visitors are advised to use designated recreational areas, be aware of cold-water shock risks in cooler seasons, and follow safety guidance.
