** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Atatürk Dam (Atatürk Barajı) is a major reservoir on the Euphrates in southeastern Turkey near Adıyaman, created by a large embankment that stores river water for irrigation and power. Water temperature in the reservoir varies seasonally and with depth: surface temperatures in winter commonly range from about 5–10 °C (41–50 °F), in spring about 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), in summer around 20–28 °C (68–82 °F), and in autumn typically 15–22 °C (59–72 °F). Deeper water stays colder year‑round and strong stratification can produce sharp temperature differences below the surface. Local weather, inflow from the Euphrates and dam operations can shift these figures somewhat from year to year.
Swimming is possible in open parts of the reservoir during the warmer months when surface temperatures are comfortable, but access and safety are conditional. Areas immediately adjacent to the dam, outlets, intake structures or active navigation zones are usually restricted for operational and safety reasons; sudden releases, strong currents, submerged structures and boat traffic make those places hazardous. Water quality and official rules can also vary, so swimming is generally only advisable in designated or locally accepted spots during summer, observing posted signs and local guidance.
