** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Ergene River in Edirne, Turkey, flows through a largely agricultural and industrial region, and its water temperature shows clear seasonal variation. In winter the river commonly cools to roughly 4–10 °C (39–50 °F). Spring sees a gradual rise, with temperatures often in the 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) range. In summer surface temperatures can reach about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) in calmer stretches, though localized thermal inputs from industry or shallow, sun-warmed pools can push values higher. Autumn typically brings cooling back toward the spring range, around 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). These figures are approximate and can vary with weather, flow rate and proximity to effluent or tributary inputs.
Swimming opportunities on the Ergene are limited and generally discouraged for public health reasons. Large stretches of the river have suffered from industrial discharges, agricultural runoff and elevated nutrient loads, causing chemical and microbial contamination that undermines bathing safety. While some isolated spots or small tributaries may appear suitable for wading or informal recreation when temperatures are pleasant, official water-quality monitoring often flags the river as unsafe for regular swimming. Even where temperature would be comfortable, pollution and variable currents make recreational swimming inadvisable without local water-quality confirmation and appropriate precautions.
