*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Bistriţa (Romanian: Bistriţa), situated in the north‑west/Transylvania area of Romania, is near several natural and artificial lakes and reservoirs whose surface water temperatures vary markedly with the seasons. In spring the water typically ranges from about 6–15 °C (43–59 °F) as runoff and snowmelt cool the basins. In summer surface temperatures commonly rise to roughly 20–25 °C (68–77 °F), and on hot, calm days can reach 25–27 °C (77–81 °F) in shallower areas. Autumn brings a steady cooling to around 8–18 °C (46–64 °F), while in winter many lakes and reservoirs hover near freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with ice possible on sheltered or shallow parts.
Swimming opportunities depend on the specific lake and time of year. Recreational lakes and designated bathing spots are generally used for swimming in the warmer months when water temperatures are comfortable and local authorities have certified water quality; however, many reservoirs associated with the Bistriţa river system are subject to restrictions because of dam operations, strong currents, variable water levels, or potable‑water protection. Authorities may close areas due to algal blooms or contamination, and lifeguards are not always present, so following posted signs and local guidance is important for safety.
