*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Wood Lake, located in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia between Lake Country and Winfield, is a narrow, picturesque lake known for its warm water and excellent recreational conditions. The climate in this part of the province is semi-arid, which helps the lake warm up early in the season. In spring, the water is still cool, averaging around 46–52°F (8–11°C) as snowmelt flows in from nearby hills. By late May and June, the temperature rises significantly to about 59–68°F (15–20°C), becoming more comfortable for swimmers. The warmest period occurs from mid-July through August, when surface temperatures typically reach 72–77°F (22–25°C). In early autumn, as air temperatures drop, the lake cools again to below 59°F (15°C) by late September.
Swimming is allowed and very popular in Wood Lake, particularly at designated beaches such as those near Beasley Park. The water is generally calm, and the lake’s shallow areas warm up quickly, providing pleasant conditions for both casual swimmers and families. Many visitors also enjoy paddleboarding, kayaking, and boating due to the lake’s sheltered setting. The best time for swimming is from late June through early September, when the water is warmest and weather conditions are ideal. Outside this period, the lake becomes cooler and better suited for non-swimming activities.
