Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.

Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information

Mabel Lake, located in the North Okanagan region of British Columbia, is a long, deep freshwater lake surrounded by forested hills and mountains. By late May and June, surface temperatures rise to about 52–59°F (11–15°C), becoming more suitable for boating and fishing. During midsummer, from July through August, the surface can warm to around 63–68°F (17–20°C), particularly in shallow bays and near sandy beaches. In autumn, as air temperatures drop, the water cools again to below 55°F (13°C) by late September.

Swimming in Mabel Lake is allowed and quite popular during the summer months, especially at Mabel Lake Provincial Park and nearby resort areas. The water is exceptionally clear and clean, offering scenic and refreshing swimming conditions. However, even in July and August, the deeper parts of the lake stay cool, so most swimmers prefer the shallower shorelines for comfort.
