*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas, experiences notable seasonal swings in surface water temperature. Because the reservoir is relatively shallow and sits in an urban heat island, surface readings in winter commonly range from about 40–55°F (4–13°C). Spring sees a steady rise into roughly 55–70°F (13–21°C), while fall temperatures typically sit between 60–75°F (16–24°C) as air temperatures cool. In summer the surface can warm substantially, frequently reaching 75–85°F (24–29°C) and, during heat waves or in sheltered bays, sometimes climbing into the low 90s°F (around 32–33°C). Local conditions such as recent rainfall, time of day and wind can shift these values, and deeper or shaded spots will be cooler than sunny shallows.
Officially, swimming in White Rock Lake is not permitted. The city and park authorities cite safety and water-quality concerns, the absence of lifeguards, submerged hazards and boat traffic, and liability issues as reasons for the prohibition. Despite occasional informal swimming by some visitors, the ban remains in place to reduce health risks from urban runoff and to prevent accidents; visitors seeking supervised swimming are directed to designated pools and staffed aquatic facilities elsewhere in the Dallas area.
