** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Benbrook Lake, a reservoir in the Fort Worth area, experiences a wide range of surface water temperatures through the year. In winter months surface readings commonly fall into the 40–55°F range (about 4–13°C), while spring brings a steady warm-up to roughly 55–75°F (13–24°C). Peak summer conditions often push surface temperatures into the mid-70s to around 90°F (24–32°C), especially on hot, calm days, and autumn sees a gradual cooling back toward the 60–75°F band (16–24°C). These figures are seasonal surface averages; deeper water and shaded coves remain cooler and local weather patterns or inflows after storms can cause short-term variations.
Swimming at Benbrook Lake is permitted in many public park and shoreline areas but is not universally allowed everywhere along the reservoir shoreline. Access and activities are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and local parks, so designated swim spots and beaches are recommended. Restrictions and advisory signage exist because of safety concerns such as boat traffic, sudden drop-offs, submerged hazards, aquatic vegetation, and variable water quality after heavy rains. Lifeguards are generally not present, so swimmers should exercise caution, follow posted rules, and check current conditions with park authorities before entering the water.
