*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Lavon, a reservoir northeast of Dallas, experiences a wide range of surface temperatures through the year. In summer months (June–August) the water commonly warms into the mid-70s to mid-90s °F (about 24–35 °C), with peak temperatures sometimes reaching the low 90s °F (around 32–34 °C) during heat waves. Spring (March–May) waters typically run cooler, roughly 50–75 °F (10–24 °C), while autumn (September–November) commonly sees temperatures in the 60–80 °F range (16–27 °C) as the lake cools. Winter surface readings (December–February) are generally the coldest, often between about 40 and 60 °F (4–16 °C), with most winters clustering near 45–55 °F (7–13 °C).
Swimming at Lavon Lake is permitted in many of the parks and designated shoreline areas managed around the reservoir, which exist to support recreational use. These areas are popular in warm months, but swimmers should note there are typically no lifeguards and conditions can change quickly. Water quality and safety can be affected by runoff, algae blooms, boat traffic, submerged structures, and changing currents, so local advisories and posted rules should be followed. In short, the lake offers plentiful swimming opportunities when temperatures are warm, but users need to observe seasonal temperature changes and on-site safety guidance.
