*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Ullíbarri-Gamboa Reservoir (Uribarri Ganboako urtegia) in the Basque Country is a large artificial lake whose surface temperatures vary noticeably with the seasons. During winter the water commonly ranges from about 4 to 10 °C (39 to 50 °F), remaining quite cold except near the shallowest margins. In spring temperatures typically climb to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as the sun warms the upper layers. Peak warmth occurs in summer, when surface readings often reach 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) on warm days, though deeper or shaded areas stay cooler. In autumn the reservoir cools again, with typical values around 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as the lake loses summer heat.
Swimming is possible in and around Ullíbarri-Gamboa but is subject to local regulations, water quality monitoring and safety considerations. Authorities may designate specific zones for bathing while restricting access in others because the reservoir serves utility, ecological and recreational functions; controls exist to protect drinking water, wildlife and users from hazards such as sudden depth changes, submerged structures and boat traffic. Water quality is periodically tested, so permitted swimming usually coincides with favorable test results and clear signage. Before entering the water it is advisable to follow municipal guidance and posted notices to ensure the chosen area is allowed and safe.
