** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Rocky Fork Lake in southern Ohio follows typical seasonal temperature patterns for mid-latitude reservoirs. In winter the surface commonly hovers near freezing, roughly 32–40 °F (0–4 °C). Spring sees a steady rise as ice melts and inflows warm, with surface temperatures often between about 40–60 °F (4–16 °C). By summer the lake usually reaches its warmest values, often in the range of 68–78 °F (20–26 °C) and occasionally climbing into the low 80s (around 27–28 °C) during extended heat spells. Autumn cooling brings temperatures back down into roughly 50–65 °F (10–18 °C) before winter refreezing. Local conditions, wind, depth and inflow from streams can shift these numbers from year to year.
Swimming is not supported by a staffed or designated public beach at Rocky Fork, so there is no official supervised swimming area; visitors sometimes swim from boat launches and shorelines, but it is generally not promoted. The lack of a managed beach and lifeguard service, potential underwater hazards, variable water clarity and boating traffic are the main reasons formal swimming facilities are not provided. Those considering entering the water should take normal safety precautions, be aware of boat traffic and changing temperatures, and check current park guidance before swimming.
