*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Reeds Lake in East Grand Rapids follows the common seasonal pattern of inland Michigan lakes. In spring (March–May) surface temperatures usually climb from the low 40s to the upper 50s °F (about 4–15 °C) as ice melts and the sun warms shallow areas. By summer (June–August) the water commonly warms into the low to upper 70s °F, roughly 21–26 °C, and on warm, calm stretches can approach 80 °F (27 °C). In early fall (September–October) temperatures typically fall back into the 50s–60s °F (10–18 °C) before dropping toward freezing in late fall and winter. During winter months the lake often forms ice and surface temperatures sit around the freezing point of water, about 32 °F (0 °C), with subsurface temperatures only slightly above that.
Swimming is generally possible during the ice-free season when water temperatures are in the comfortable summer range; many people swim from shore or private docks when water is above about 70 °F (21 °C). Swimming is discouraged or unsafe when the lake is ice-covered or when water is very cold because of hypothermia risk. Local water-quality advisories and posted rules should be checked before entering the water, and swimmers should observe safety measures such as wearing life jackets or staying near supervised areas.
