*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Wabasis Lake in Michigan generally follows the seasonal temperature patterns of small inland lakes in the region. In spring the surface water commonly sits between the low 40s and mid 50s °F (about 4–13 °C) as the lake mixes and warms. By summer, surface temperatures often rise into the low 70s to mid 70s °F (roughly 21–24 °C) and in warm, shallow bays can occasionally reach the upper 70s to around 80 °F (25–27 °C). During fall the lake cools again, typically falling through the 50s and 40s °F (10–7 °C) as air temperatures drop, and in winter the surface approaches freezing (around 32–39 °F, 0–4 °C) and the lake may ice over. Deeper water usually remains several degrees cooler than shallow areas because of stratification in summer.
Swimming is commonly permitted on Wabasis Lake and it is used for recreational swimming when conditions allow, primarily in summer when surface temperatures are most comfortable. Local rules, private property lines, posted advisories or occasional water-quality alerts can restrict access, so visitors should check shore postings and local resources. There are typically no lifeguards at smaller inland lake access points, and swimmers should be mindful of cold-water shock in spring and fall, wear personal flotation devices as appropriate, and avoid entering the lake when ice is present.
