Pool 7 / Lake Onalaska is a broad backwater of the Mississippi River with fairly variable surface temperatures through the year. In winter surface water often sits near freezing, roughly 32–40°F (0–4°C). Spring warming typically brings temperatures into the 40–65°F (4–18°C) range as inflows and sun angle increase.
