*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Moldevatnet is a small lake near Molde in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. Like many coastal Norwegian lakes, its surface temperature varies considerably through the year. In winter the water often hovers close to freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F). Spring brings a gradual rise as meltwater and sunnier days warm the surface to about 4–10 °C (39–50 °F). Peak summer temperatures typically reach in the ballpark of 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) during warm spells, though cooler summers and deeper, shaded areas can keep water nearer 10–14 °C (50–57 °F). In autumn the lake cools again, commonly falling into the 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) range as air temperatures drop and stratification breaks down.
Swimming opportunities at Moldevatnet are limited and often subject to local rules because the lake functions as part of the municipal water supply and is managed for drinking water protection; municipalities commonly restrict bathing to protect water quality. Beyond regulatory considerations, the relatively low summer temperatures, sudden depth changes and lack of lifeguards mean swimming is best approached with caution. Where municipal guidance allows public access, short swims are feasible in warm months with appropriate precautions — thermal protection, accompaniment, and awareness of local signage — but many residents prefer designated beaches or lakes that are explicitly maintained for recreational bathing.
