*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Mississinewa Lake, a reservoir in north-central Indiana, experiences typical Midwest seasonal temperature swings that strongly affect water conditions. In spring the surface usually runs cool, roughly 40–60°F (4–16°C) as runoff and cooler air temperatures prevail. By summer the lake warms to its most comfortable range for bathing, commonly about 70–85°F (21–29°C) at peak afternoons in July and August, although near-shore shallows heat faster than deeper areas. Temperatures begin falling in autumn, often dropping back into the 50–60°F range (10–16°C), and in winter the lake can approach freezing with surface readings near 33–40°F (1–4°C) and occasional ice cover in sustained cold spells.
Swimming at Mississinewa Lake is permitted but generally confined to designated beach and day-use areas managed by the reservoir authorities; these spaces exist to separate swimmers from boating traffic and changing water levels. Conditions and rules can change seasonally, and beach areas may be unguarded, so visitors should heed posted advisories about water quality, algae blooms or unsafe currents near inlets and the dam. Because temperatures vary widely through the year, swimmers commonly plan visits for mid-summer when surface temperatures are warmest and more comfortable for extended swimming.
