** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Placid in central Florida tends to have mild to warm water temperatures for much of the year because the lakes are relatively shallow and respond quickly to air temperatures. Typical seasonal ranges run roughly 60–70°F (15–21°C) in winter months, rise to about 70–80°F (21–27°C) in spring and fall, and reach roughly 80–90°F (27–32°C) during the summer. During heat waves surface temperatures can climb above 90°F (32°C), while occasional cold snaps may push readings down into the upper 50s°F (around 14°C). These values are approximate and can vary by lake depth, shading, inflows and recent weather.
Swimming is generally allowed in areas with public access or on private shorelines, but it is not universally permitted everywhere around Lake Placid and is subject to local rules and safety considerations. Many spots have no lifeguards and swimmers should be aware of hazards such as submerged vegetation, variable bottom conditions, wildlife including alligators, and periodic water-quality advisories for algal blooms or contamination. Local signage and county health notices will indicate when swimming is discouraged or prohibited; when no advisories are posted and access is legal, recreational swimming is commonly done because the seasonal temperatures are comfortable for much of the year.
