Swimming in such conditions is perfect for those seeking relaxation and comfort in the water. *** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Mohave, located along the Colorado River between Hoover Dam and Davis Dam, stretches across the border of Arizona and Nevada within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Its water temperature changes significantly throughout the year due to both desert air temperatures and releases from Hoover Dam, which bring in colder water from deep below Lake Mead. During winter, surface temperatures generally range from 52 to 59°F (11–15°C), cool but not uncomfortably cold. As spring approaches, the lake warms to around 65–75°F (18–24°C) by May. During the summer months, Lake Mohave reaches its peak warmth, averaging 80–86°F (27–30°C) in July and August. By autumn, the water cools gradually to about 68–73°F (20–23°C), maintaining comfortable conditions for most water recreation through October.
Swimming is allowed and very popular at Lake Mohave, especially during the long, hot desert summers. The lake’s clear water, scenic red rock surroundings, and several designated swimming areas make it a favorite spot for visitors seeking relief from the heat. Popular areas such as Cottonwood Cove and Katherine Landing provide safe, sandy entry points and nearby amenities. Swimmers should be cautious near the colder sections closer to Hoover Dam, where the water can remain chilly year-round due to deep-water releases. Overall, Lake Mohave offers excellent conditions for swimming, boating, and relaxing in a warm desert setting.
