*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Mead, a vast reservoir on the Colorado River bordering Arizona and Nevada, experiences a wide fluctuation in water temperature typical of the Mojave Desert climate. During the peak summer months, surface temperatures are generally very warm, reaching highs of up to 29∘C (85∘F), and sometimes even higher. This makes the lake highly inviting for extended water recreation. Conversely, the winter months bring considerable cooling, with surface temperatures dropping to the range of 7∘C to 13∘C (45∘F to 55∘F), which is too cold for casual swimming.
Swimming is generally permitted and encouraged in Lake Mead, as the National Park Service manages the lake for various public recreational activities. Popular areas like Boulder Beach and various coves are frequently used for swimming. However, there are no official lifeguards on duty at any Lake Mead beaches, meaning all swimming is at your own risk. Swimmers must exercise extreme caution due to hazards such as heavy boat traffic, sudden, steep drop-offs into deep water, and submerged debris or infrastructure exposed by years of declining water levels. Swimmers should also check for temporary advisories related to water quality, such as high bacteria levels or harmful algal blooms.
