Quail Creek Reservoir in southwestern Utah experiences pronounced seasonal swings in surface water temperature. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures commonly range from about 55–70°F (13–21°C) as runoff and warming air raise the lake. Summer brings the warmest conditions: surface readings often sit between roughly 75–90°F (24–32°C), with late July and August typically the peak months (many days in the upper 70s to mid‑80s °F / 25–30°C). Fall cooling returns surface temps to roughly 60–75°F (16–24°C). In winter the surface often falls to near 40–55°F (4–13°C). Remember that deeper water remains substantially colder year‑round and thermal stratification can produce sharp temperature differences with depth.
Swimming is allowed and commonly practiced from beaches and sheltered coves at Quail Creek State Park, but it is generally not lifeguarded, so swimmers should be cautious.
