** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Gregory, a mountain reservoir in Southern California’s San Bernardino Mountains, tends to run cooler than lower-elevation lakes, and surface temperatures change noticeably with the seasons. In winter the water is cold, commonly around 38–48°F (3–9°C). Spring brings gradual warming to roughly 45–60°F (7–16°C) as daylight and air temperatures increase. Peak summer conditions can raise surface temperatures to approximately 60–75°F (15–24°C) on warm, sunny days, though cooler pockets persist below the surface. By autumn the lake generally cools back toward the 50–60°F range (10–16°C). Local weather, recent storms, wind and lake depth all influence short-term fluctuations, and deeper water remains colder year-round.
Swimming is permitted in designated beach and roped-off areas at Lake Gregory when the park’s facilities are open, typically during the warmer months, and lifeguards or park staff may be on duty during posted hours. Authorities monitor conditions and may restrict swimming for reasons such as poor water quality, algal blooms, low water levels or hazardous weather; cold-water temperatures can also increase the risk of hypothermia and limit comfortable swimming outside peak summer periods. Visitors should follow posted rules, heed staff guidance and be aware that temperatures vary by season and depth.
