*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Georgia-Pacific, located in southern Arkansas near Crossett, is a man-made reservoir surrounded by forest and wetlands. Its water temperature reflects the region’s warm, humid subtropical climate, leading to mild winters and hot summers. In winter, the water temperature generally ranges from 8–12 °C (46–54 °F). As spring arrives, the lake gradually warms, reaching around 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) by late April or early May. During summer, surface temperatures rise to their peak levels of 26–31 °C (79–88 °F), providing ideal conditions for water-based recreation. In autumn, the water cools again to 15–20 °C (59–68 °F) as air temperatures drop and days become shorter.
Swimming in Lake Georgia-Pacific is allowed in designated areas and is most comfortable between late May and early September, when the water is warm and calm. The lake’s shallow sections heat quickly, making them pleasant for swimming and wading. However, because this is an industrial reservoir originally built for mill operations, not all areas are maintained for public recreation, so visitors should use approved access points. Outside the summer months, swimming becomes less appealing due to cooler water and weather. Still, the lake remains a peaceful setting for fishing, birdwatching, and boating throughout most of the year.
