** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Baluošas, like many small Lithuanian lakes, follows the seasonal pattern of temperate inland waters. In spring the surface warms slowly, commonly ranging from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as ice melts and air temperatures rise. By early summer (June) temperatures typically reach 14–18 °C (57–64 °F), with midsummer (July–August) surface values most often in the 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) band on warm years; these are the months when the water feels comfortably swimmable to many visitors. In autumn the lake cools again to roughly 10–15 °C (50–59 °F) and by winter the surface approaches freezing, often covered by ice and at or around 0 °C (32 °F), making ordinary swimming impractical.
Swimming at Baluošas is generally possible where there is public shoreline or marked bathing spots, since Lithuanian lakes are commonly used for recreation. Whether one should swim depends on local conditions: water quality, signage, private land boundaries and safety factors such as depth and underwater hazards. Warm midsummer temperatures make casual bathing pleasant, while cooler or changeable conditions increase the risk of cold shock and hypothermia. In winter the lake is unsuitable for normal bathing, though some people practice organized ice swimming at controlled locations with safety measures in place. Always check local notices and exercise appropriate precautions.
