*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lac Taureau, located in the Lanaudière region of central Quebec, is a large man-made reservoir surrounded by forest and dotted with sandy islands and coves. Its broad surface and moderate depth create a balanced temperature pattern influenced by the region’s warm summers and cold winters. In early spring, after the ice melts in April or early May, the lake remains chilly, averaging around 39–45°F (4–7°C). By late May and June, surface temperatures begin to rise, reaching about 54–63°F (12–17°C). During midsummer, from July through August, Lac Taureau typically warms to 66–73°F (19–23°C) in shallow bays and beach areas, while deeper water remains a few degrees cooler. By late September, the temperature gradually declines below 57°F (14°C) as fall weather sets in.
Swimming in Lac Taureau is allowed and very popular, particularly within the Réservoir Taureau Regional Park, which features several sandy beaches and warm, sheltered coves. The lake’s clean water and scenic setting make it one of Quebec’s top summer recreation destinations. In midsummer, the water is comfortable enough for long swims, paddleboarding, and kayaking, especially on calm days. The best swimming season runs from late June to early September, when the surface water is warm, the air temperature high, and the park facilities fully open for visitors.
