** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Lancashire
Jumbles Reservoir, set within Jumbles Country Park in Lancashire, typically stays cool year-round. Surface temperatures vary with season and weather: winter often sits around 4–7 °C (39–45 °F), spring rises to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), summer can reach about 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) on warmer spells, and autumn commonly falls between 8–13 °C (46–55 °F). Deep water and inflows mean temperatures can change quickly after rain or cold snaps, so even in summer the reservoir remains colder than shallow lakes or sheltered bathing spots. Cold-water shock and underwater currents are real hazards.
Swimming in the reservoir is generally not permitted; it is owned and managed with water quality and safety in mind, and signs and local rules discourage wild bathing to protect both swimmers and the water supply. Visitors looking to enjoy water activities typically use supervised pools or organised open-water events elsewhere. The park does, however, offer pleasant walking and birdwatching, picnic areas and trails, and is close to other local attractions such as Rivington Pike and neighbouring reservoirs on the West Pennine Moors.
