✅ As of today, the minimum water temperature is above 82°F (28°C). This is very warm water, which may feel almost hot to most people. Swimming in such conditions is perfect for those seeking relaxation and comfort in the water. These waters are often preferred for relaxation in hot weather, as the water temperature does not cool the body significantly. However, it is important to remember that in such warm waters, caution is necessary, as prolonged exposure without rest can lead to overheating. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. *** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Inks Lake in the Texas Hill Country typically shows noticeable seasonal variation in surface temperature. In spring the water commonly warms into the mid 60s to mid 70s °F (about 15–24 °C) as air temperatures rise. Summer surface readings often reach the mid 70s to upper 80s °F and can spike into the low 90s °F in hot spells (roughly 24–32 °C, occasionally higher). In fall the lake cools back toward the upper 50s to low 70s °F (about 13–21 °C), and winter surface temperatures frequently fall into the mid 40s to low 60s °F (around 7–16 °C). Shallow coves and rock shoals warm and cool faster than deeper sections, so conditions can vary across the lake and with weather patterns.
Swimming at Inks Lake is allowed and commonly practiced, especially inside Inks Lake State Park where shore access and informal swim spots exist. The lake’s relatively stable level and generally mild currents make it suitable for recreation, but there are no lifeguards and hazards such as submerged rocks, sudden drop-offs, and boat traffic should be considered. Park rules, posted signage, and local water-release operations near the dam can affect safety, so swimmers are advised to use designated areas when available, exercise caution, and check current conditions before entering the water.
