Throughout the year, the Khorol River in the city of Khorol shows a fairly typical temperature pattern for small rivers in central Ukraine. In winter, the water often drops close to 0 °C, and parts of the river can freeze over, especially in shallow areas. Spring brings a gradual rise — by late April or early May the water usually warms to +10–15 °C, which already allows for short swims on sunny days.
During summer, the Khorol reaches its warmest period, with water temperatures commonly around +21–25 °C, and sometimes even higher in shallow or slow-moving sections. This is when locals most often swim or relax on small beaches along the riverbanks. By autumn, the water cools steadily again — around +18 °C in September, dropping to +10 °C or less by late October. So, the comfortable swimming season in Khorol generally lasts from mid-June to early September, depending on the weather.
