Izyaslav (Iziaslav) sits on the Horyn River, which is a right tributary of the Pripyat (and hence part of the Dnieper basin). Because of its mixed character — flowing through uplands, flatlands, and varied terrain — water temperature in the Horyn near Izyaslav in summer can warm moderately in sunlit, slow sections. Surface temperatures in July-August in shallow, calm bends might reach 22–25 °C, while in deeper or shaded channels the water likely stays cooler — more like 18–21 °C. Earlier in the season (late spring/early summer) the water is noticeably colder, often in the range of 14–18 °C, making prolonged swimming less comfortable.
Swimming in Izyaslav along the Horyn is possible in selected spots — gentle banks, side arms, or calm bends where currents are mild and entry is easier. Locals may choose these areas for leisure, cooling off, or wading rather than serious swimming. However, the river has varying depths, possible underwater obstacles, and can become turbulent or muddy after rain. So it’s safest to stick to known, shallow parts with good visibility, and always take care when entering the water.
