Location & Local Information
Horodok in Lviv Oblast is a small town with a few natural and artificial bodies of water where locals sometimes go for a swim. One spot is the pond near the “Old Dam” area, and there are other ponds or lakes near the “Old Sugar Factory” district (though occasionally water levels are low or the pond is dry).
Water temperatures in these ponds and lakes in this region are generally modest: during summer, the water may warm up to around 18–22 °C, and on hot days possibly even a bit more. Outside the summer season, water temperatures are usually much cooler—often below 15 °C, which makes prolonged swimming quite uncomfortable. Because of this, swimming in Horodok is mostly limited to summer time, and even then typically for short periods or by people accustomed to cooler waters.
