** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Sarıyar Dam (Turkish: Sarıyar Barajı), located on the Sakarya River, creates a large reservoir whose surface water temperatures vary markedly with the seasons. In winter months (December–February) surface temperatures commonly fall to about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F). Spring warming (March–May) typically brings temperatures into the 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) range as the reservoir stratifies. Peak summer temperatures (June–August) often reach roughly 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) at the surface in sheltered bays, while autumn (September–November) sees cooling back to approximately 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). These are general ranges; local conditions such as depth, wind, inflow from cold tributaries, and daily weather can produce cooler or warmer pockets.
Swimming in the Sarıyar reservoir is generally discouraged and in many areas effectively prohibited for safety and operational reasons. Large dams present hazards including strong currents, sudden releases or level changes from turbine and spillway operations, boat traffic, submerged structures, and variable water quality; lifeguards and designated swimming facilities are typically absent. During warm summer months some locals may swim in calmer, shallow bays where access is possible, but official restrictions and safety risks mean that recreational swimming should only be attempted where expressly permitted and with caution.
